December 9 – Transfer Airport to Hotel in Santiago
On arrival to the Santiago airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel located in Providencia neighborhood. You room will be ready after 15:00, so we recommend to discover the surrounding areas. At 3 PM The city tour starts, let us introduce you to the classic city we know and love on this 4-hour tour exploring the city’s most popular sites along with some of our personal favourites. Chile´s rich cultural heritage comes to life as we visit the iconic symbols of the city, including La Plaza de Armas (the main square), La Moneda (the government palace), the Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral. We continue to the bohemian area of Bellavista and climb the San Cristobal hill for a panoramic view of Santiago with the Andes Mountains in the background. We’ll also visit the Orient Sector, the most modern area of the city, with its impressive high-rise buildings and classy boulevards. Overnight
December 10 – Viña del Mar, Valparaiso and winery
9 am Full day visit to Viña del Mar and Valparaíso through the Curacaví and Casablanca Valleys. In Viña del Mar, known as the Garden City, we will visit its most emblematic places such as the Clock of Flowers. Then we will continue to Valparaiso visiting the port, Victory Square and the Yugoslav, Atkinson and May 21 strolls, to visit the traditional hills of this port city, adorned with colorful houses that also house picturesque hotels and restaurants. After lunch we’ll return to Santiago stoping on a winery on our way back. Overnight
December 11 – Santiago – Maule Valley
At 10 am, we will head towards the Region del Maule to experience the famous wineries at Maule Valley. Route Maule Valley is composed of 8 vineyards and is a surprising and attractive destination for wine lovers. It’s fascinating feature of vineyards ranging from east to west, leads us to travel from our Andes to the Pacific Ocean different grape plantations that lead to the most varied and exquisite wines. Surprising and representative in its wine production, this area of very old vines “heart of the Chilean countryside” has the river Maule as a driver accompanies strains and musts this journey through the senses and our culture. It is a 3 hours and 30-minute drive. So, on the route we will have the time to stop by and to go to the restrooms. Once we arrive, we will take a tour to the vineyards, where you will taste these famous wines going through the colonial winery and the latest generation winery, underground storage in barrels, centennial park and wine museum. Our trip for the day finish at the city of Talca where dinner will be waiting for us. Overnight
December 12 – Maule Valley – Pucón
After having breakfast at the hotel, at 10 am, we board our buses, seat back and relax. Our driver will take us to Pucón, which is our destination today. The trip is 530 km (around 6 hours) with lunch on the route. When we arrive to our destination you’ll have time to visit the city and enjoy the local gastronomy on your own. Overnight.
December 13 – Lagunas Andinas
In the midst of the Andean mountain range and close to the border crossing with Argentina, Mamuil Malal, there are two lakes flanked by araucaria forests inhabited by Magellanic woodpeckers and other birds and animals. The trail is flat and relatively easy allowing you to enjoy the scenery that emanates a special beauty and calm due to this being a little visited area. The trail is located alongside the impressive Lanin volcano, half Chilean half Argentine, which reaches 3700 masl and has a huge glacier located in its crater. Overnight.
December 14 – Eclipse
After Breakfast transfer to our exclusive eclipse viewing site scouted by our Eclipse experts. Arrive early with plenty of time to set up for the eclipse. From our exclusive site you can view 2 minute 8 seconds of 2020 Total Solar Eclipse where the Sun elevation will be 72 degrees above the northern horizon. It will take about 2 hours 51 minutes for the entire eclipse process. Pucón generally experiences clear skies in December nevertheless a bus will be at our disposal to travel along the eclipse path to seek out a clear location for viewing, if needed. A leisurely day to observe the eclipse beginning at 11.55 AM, totality occurs at 1:18 PM and the partial phases end at 2:45 PM. Buffet Lunch, water, soft drinks & Snacks, tables and chairs are provided at the viewing site. Return to hotel after the eclipse and rest of the day is free for independent activities. This evening join fellow tour members for a celebratory Dinner.
December 15 – Mapuche culture and Hotspings
Immerse yourself in the Mapuche culture sharing typical food and getting to know the clothing, housing and stories of these local people. On this tour you will visit a traditional Ruka (Mapuche house) and will find out more about this ancient culture. Includes traditional style barbecue and a tasting of Mapuche products, the Ruka visit, weaving techniques, traditional clothing, instruments and you can also take part in the traditional games called Palin or chueca. Visit Hotsprings inserted into the middle of a natural environment which is both unmissable and impossible to forget.
December 16 – Pucón – Santiago
10 am Drive back to Santiago. A long trip (787 km) whit a stop for lunch. Arrive to Santiago around 8pm.
December 17 – Transportation to Santiago Airport
Today, our driver will take us back to Santiago Airport for your flight.
